Inspecting Mooring Condition

If you have questions about the condition of your mooring, or your hull, ruder, propeller or anything below the surface, call us about a video inspection. We will give you a price to come alongside with our submarine ROV (remotely operated vehicle) and scan the object in question. You will be able to see for yourself the condition and receive a video recording on DVD of the whole event. The image at the left is the mooring-block to chain connection on the Sharon Ann's mooring in Lowell Cove.

The submarine ROV system is portable so if you need us to come to a remote location, not easily accessed from our boat, we will bring the ROV and operate it for you. All we need is a 12 volt battery, automotive will do. We will provide the inverter to power the ROV. In this case the wide screen monitor and dvd recording equipment will not be available, but we will provide a VHS tape of the operation. This service is convenient for law enforcement and other authorities involved in search and recovery operations. It may greatly limit the need to put divers in the water in hazardous conditions. The image at the right came form the VideoRay website. It was taken in Minnesota with the temperature seriously below zero.

Hazardous Search Operations
Trap on the Bottom, Almost

If you are a lobster catcher and want to know how your gear is fishing, or why a string is caught down, we may be able to help. At least we can show you the way things are. Fixing them will be up to you. We can operate the ROV from our boat, with the wide screen monitor and dvd recorder, or bring it aboard your boat and provided a VHS tape of the operation.

If you run a fishing charter operation and would like to do a visual inspection of your favorite areas to check the fish population, we can handle that for you. The maximum working depth of the ROV is 50 fathoms but a practical working limit is about 30 fathoms as the tether is now configured. Also the range of visibility even with the lights on high power is greatly reduced below about 20 fathoms.
